This February 3rd marks the 65th Anniversary of what's come to be known as "the day the music died" -- when in the early morning hours in 1959, a small airplane carrying early rock pioneers Buddy Holly, The Big Bopper and Richie Valens crashed in a frozen Iowa cornfield killing all on board.
This special tribute concert on the anniversary weekend of the crash reminds audiences of the impact Buddy Holly had on popular music around the globe during his short life, and underscores Holly's tremendous and enduring legacy.
Every live performance by KENNY JAMES & RAVE ON includes all the expected hits, but it also some deeper cuts from Holly's incredible catalog of songs, along with some historical commentary about the man and his music.
Along with Buddy's songs, James often wraps up his concerts with an encore set of songs by other oldies artists who were influenced and inspired by Holly and his music.
KENNY JAMES has performed his critically acclaimed tribute to rock 'n' roll pioneer Buddy Holly all across the United States over the years, garnering rave reviews at top theaters, concert halls and festivals.
A native of Northwest Indiana, James has lived and performed throughout America, and has been booked for extended residency engagements in such live entertainment hubs as Las Vegas, Nevada, as well as in Branson, Missouri, and Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.
These days James only performs a few regional appearances each year. James & Rave On performed at Hobart Art Theater in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2022, 2023 to "rave" reviews (pun intended!), so Tom Lounges Entertainment is bringing this special Buddy Holly remembrance concert back to the venue on SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 1st.

Ticket prices increase by $5 at the door on the day of show.

A Very Eclectic Vinyl Record Store Experience
Tom and I opened the first store in the Spring of 2018 and the second location in the Fall of 2020 here is a little history!
TOM LOUNGES' RECORD BIN is a unique record shop located in Northwest Indiana. We had two locations - Hobart & Michigan City, IN -- which carry new and pre-loved vinyl, Audio-Technica turntables, crystals, t-shirts, CD's, Cassettes, coffee mugs, and other pop culture items, Black Squirrel Crossing Guitar pick Jewelry, and collectibles.
The Hobart store was founded in 2018 in Hobart, Indiana by Tom Lounges, who brings to the business over 40 years experience in various aspects of the music business -- as a radio and television broadcaster, print journalist, artist agent and manager, record label annotator, publicist, and event producer.
He also brings many years of knowledge in running vinyl record stores, having spent years working in such popular Midwest record retail chains as Hegewsich Records and Woodmar Records, along with his debut in the vinyl retail world managing the fledgling single store location of Highland Records in 1977.
We opened the Michigan City location in October of 2020, during the pandemic. This was a great space with a stage for live music.
We closed the Michigan City store in January of 2024. Lack of accessibility due to the South Shore tracks and street closures helped us to unfortunately make that decision.
We have 3 booths at the America's Antique Mall in Highland, IN. Booths B28, B29,and B30. We modeled it after our two stores - very organized and everything is labeled and easy to find. Located at 8311 Indianapolis Blvd, Highland, IN 46322

Tom Lounges Record Bin has been the site of the taping/making of live music videos by various artists, a national documentary taping done by the Hard Rock Cafe & Casino organization, and it has been the topic of feature articles in both local and national publications.
The store's slogan is "Where the cool kids go!" because one never knows what celebrity might pop in on any given day. See this site's "Gallery" page for some of those celeb images! You can be a "cool kid" too... just shop at The Bin where we are always happy to help and to talk about music with our patrons.
